The past decade has been a time of great change for organizations. Old trusted ways of working have been challenged both internally and externally, and operating practices that were once useful have become impediments to growth. Whether the shift within your company is due to a merger, new economy initiatives, or a change in culture, The Exetor Group can help restore a sense of balance and focus. Our approach to organizational alignment is a practical one. By actively partnering with our clients, we develop a customized plan for creating unity with customers, suppliers, processes, and employees across organizational levels. We do this through a series of methodical steps: |
- Taking a snapshot - To understand the current state of an organization's performance system, we carefully gather data that helps us identify gaps. This information may be obtained through a cross-sectional sampling of individuals, interviews with company leaders, company-wide surveys, or other methods, depending on the client's specific needs and budget. During this information-gathering stage, we also test for alignment issues related to goals, values, procedures, and client perceptions.
- Identifying Opportunities for Improvement - After analyzing the data from the snapshot, we target the alignment issues that are likely to have the greatest impact on the organization. We bring to this part of the process a deep understanding of what types of improvements have worked for other clients. An environmental scan of parallel organizations can be useful at this stage, especially when an industry is changing, technology has shifted, or new markets have emerged.
- Instituting Intervention - Our consultants take great care to ensure that the solutions, or interventions, we recommend are appropriate for the company and achievable within the culture of the organization. It is also important that the timing and sequencing of each intervention have a direct, measurable outcome. Interventions can range from workshops and briefings to hands-on problem solving and team building and may be conducted in groups, among individuals, or even across the entire company. We may recommend changes in organizational structure with the goal of aligning human performance and business objectives.
- Tracking Results - Once customized interventions are in place, we leave the client with tracking devices that measure current alignment and tools that can help maintain and improve alignment.
